Meet Julia McGuire

We've loved watching Julia's journey over the years — from sharing her everyday style to now giving us glimpses into life with baby Grayson. We caught up with her after collaborating on our latest collection to talk about motherhood, personal style, and the pieces she's been wearing on repeat.

You've been creating content for a while now — how did it all start, and did you ever imagine it would become what it is today?

I started really leaning into content creation like many creators around the Covid shut down. I wasn’t able to be on set with my clients as a model so I got creative in my apartment shooting videos and photos for the brands.

We have loved seeing Grayson pop up in your stories since his birth. You seem to have fallen into motherhood so beautifully, but we know being a working mom is no easy feat — any tips on making the transition a little easier?

Ah, thank you so much for saying this! The transition into motherhood has been the most rewarding and challenging chapter of my life. I am very lucky to have such a great community online that I am able to connect and share with. It has been fun to share our life these past few months, free of judgement and with open arms and so many women offering advice. I think just giving yourself grace, being open to change and not setting expectations so you can go with the flow and not freak out when your day doesn’t go as planned... Because it may never go as planned ever again — haha. But it’s worth it.

How did this collaboration with THATCH come about, and what made it feel like the right fit?

I have been OBSESSED with THATCH for as long as I can remember. I live in my cuff, double cuff and heart charm necklaces. I even gave the heart charms to my girlfriends in bachelorette gifting bags. THATCH is a very wearable, everyday brand that also has pieces you can really elevate for any occasion. That’s also what I love organically sharing and wearing so it just felt like such a natural fit to collaborate.

So many women trust your eye and your opinion. Why do you think that is?

Honestly, it is the biggest compliment. I sometimes feel like I have the most basic style but hey, who doesn’t love jeans and a good t-shirt? I really gravitate towards the timeless and sometimes more preppy pieces which I think a lot of people also love. I have definitely found my personal style over the last few years and feel that translates well on my page. Do NOT ask my mom to show you my outfits in high school…

One of our favorite things about following you is how close you are with your parents. We genuinely love seeing them pop up in your content. What do they think of everything you've built? They must be so proud.

Speaking of… My parents are my best friends and have always been so supportive of everything I do. Maybe even a little more so now with the free clothes and styling sessions they get! If you run into my dad, chances are he will whip out his Instagram and tell you to follow me. Its hysterical, embarrassing and wonderful all at the same time. I am very lucky to have them and that they make video appearances.

Which piece from the collection have you been wearing the most, and how are you styling it in real life?

I have always been the biggest fan of THATCH cuffs so the Simone Mixed Cuffs have been on repeat — especially in the summer with some linen whites to make the gem colors pop! I also have been loving the Simone Hoop Earrings to spruce up a boring outfit. Oh, and of course the Perla Earrings are timeless and great to throw on for a chic date night.

How do you think about jewelry when you get dressed? Does it start with the piece or the outfit?

I always have a piece in mind I might want to throw on but usually I wait until the last minute to complete the look. Jewelry really does make such a difference to your outfits and makes me feel really put together!

What can we find in your bag? We really love a “What's In Your Bag” series!

Oh gosh... My husband would laugh at this. I am the most Type B person in the world. In my bag you will ALWAYS find my Ricoh Camera, six different lipglosses, a charger, protein bar, hair brush and random candies. That’s the cleaned up version… Should we do a video?
